How to Edit Start Date, Finish Date, or Duration
- Open the Task details panel and navigate to General.
- Edit the Start date by selecting a new date from the date picker.
- Edit the Finish date by selecting a new date from the date picker.
- Edit the Duration by entering a value, using the mouse wheel, or clicking the plus (+) or minus (−) icons.
- Navigate to Task details > Durations to edit duration for individual location tasks.
- Edit the duration for one or more location tasks and return to Task details > General.
Note: When editing duration in the General tab, excess or missing minutes after duration rounding are distributed across all location tasks.
How Calendar Changes Affect Task Duration
- Ensure your schedule has multiple calendars configured with different workdays, week start days, working hours, and holidays.
- Edit the calendar assigned to a task.
Important: Changing a task's calendar will automatically update its duration, finish date, span, and workday span based on the new calendar's settings.
How to Modify Location Task Duration and Finish Date
- Navigate to Task details > Durations.
- Edit the Duration for a specific location task.
- Edit the Finish date for a specific location task.
- Click the menu icon and select Distribute current duration among all location tasks to evenly distribute the subtask duration.
How to Bulk Edit Multiple Location Tasks
- Select multiple location tasks by holding Ctrl or Shift and left-clicking.
- Click the pen icon in the toolbar labeled Change values for all selected location tasks.
- Click Change duration.
- Enter the new duration value in the input field that appears.
- Click the tick icon to apply the changes.
Tip: Use the distribute function when you want equal durations across all location tasks within a subtask.
How to Edit Duration by Dragging in Takt Time
- Go to the Takt Time view.
- Enable Drag and move task mode from the toolbar.
- Hover over a location task to reveal the handle icon (three vertical lines) on the right side of the task bar.
- Select one location task and drag the handles inward to shorten or outward to prolong the task.
- Select multiple location tasks by holding Ctrl and clicking, then drag the handles to adjust duration for all selected tasks simultaneously.
How to Move Tasks with ASAP Constraints
- Select the first location task of a subtask that has ASAP enabled.
- Attempt to move the task.
- In the dialog that appears (Moving an ASAP task), choose one of the following options:
- Keep date and "ASAP" enabled — The task will not move and ASAP remains enabled.
- Move and disable "ASAP" — The task will move to the new date and ASAP will be disabled.
How to Move Tasks Without ASAP
- Select the first location task of a subtask with ASAP disabled.
- Drag and move the task to update its start date.
- Select the last location task of a subtask and move it to update the subtask finish date and proportionally adjust all location task durations.
Note: Moving the last location task affects the overall subtask finish date and redistributes duration proportionally across all location tasks.
How to Edit Duration for Multiple Subtasks at Once
- Open the Task details panel.
- Select multiple subtasks by holding Ctrl and left-clicking on each subtask.
- Deselect any subtask by clicking the (x) in its chip at the bottom of the Task panel.
- Select additional subtasks as needed by holding Ctrl and left-clicking.
- Edit the Start date for all selected subtasks (this field is disabled if ASAP is enabled for all selected subtasks).
- Edit the Finish date for all selected subtasks (this field is disabled if ASAP is enabled for all selected subtasks).
- Edit the Duration by entering a value, using the mouse wheel, or clicking the plus (+) or minus (−) icons.
Note: When bulk editing is active, the Dependencies, Durations, Progress, and Costs tabs are disabled. Chips for selected subtasks appear at the bottom of the Task panel.
How to Edit Duration by Dragging in Flowline View
- Navigate to the Flowline view.
- Click the Drag and move task icon in the toolbar.
- Hover over the first location of a subtask to see the hand cursor icon.
- Hover over the last location of a subtask to see the horizontal resize cursor (line with arrows on both ends).
- Click and drag the last location to the right (to increase duration) or to the left (to decrease duration), then release.
How to Move a Location Task Without Changing Duration
- Hover over a location that is not the last of a subtask to see the pointer cursor (hand with finger).
- Click and drag the location to the right (to start later) or to the left (to start earlier), then release.
Tip: Dragging a middle location updates start and finish dates but keeps the duration unchanged. Only dragging the last location adjusts the duration.
