How to Add a New Summary Task
- Navigate to the Takt Time view in your schedule.
- Select the tasks you want to group under a summary task by clicking on them while holding the Ctrl key (Windows) or Cmd key (Mac).
- Right-click on one of the selected tasks.
- Click Add new summary task from the context menu.
- A new summary task is created with the name "Summary task X" (where X is a sequential number for the session).
How to Edit Summary Task Details
- Click on the summary task to open the task details panel.
- Edit any of the following properties as needed:
- Name: Replace the default name with a descriptive title.
- Code: Add or modify a task code for identification.
- Location precision: Adjust to a higher or lower precision level (duration remains unchanged).
- Color: Change the color to visually distinguish the summary task.
Important: Changing the location precision of a summary task does not affect its duration. The summary task maintains the same timeframe regardless of location precision adjustments.
Understanding Summary Task Properties
When you create a summary task, Tactplan automatically sets the following properties:
- Location precision: Set one level above the highest precision of the grouped tasks, or at the highest available level if all tasks are already at the top level.
- Duration: Spans from the start of the earliest task to the finish of the latest task in the group.
